The three most common benefits of belonging to a federated club are:
- community service
- personal growth and development
- fellowship and friendships
As a community service organization, we seek to pinpoint the needs in our area and strive to meet those needs.
At our club meetings we grow by working together toward common goals. Our members are taught leadership skills and techniques that help them in all aspects of their lives.
Camaraderie is an important benefit of belonging to a federated club. We share ideas and make friends as we make a difference in our communities.
Responsibilities of Membership
It is the member's responsibility to:
- Attend regular club meetings.
- Participate in our community service projects and fund raising events.
- Pay club dues.
- Work to increase the impact of our club by inviting others to attend meetings and to join our membership.
At our club meetings we conduct the business of the club, provide interesting and informative programs for the members to promote fellowship and friendship among our members.
State of Florida and District Membership
As a member of the GFWC Junior Woman's Club of Jacksonville, you would also be a member of the GFWC Florida Federation of Women's Clubs and the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC).
Florida is divided into 14 FFWC districts. Our club is in district 4 (northeast Florida). Our district director is Renée Lucero and she is a member of the GFWC Junior Woman's Club of St. Augustine.
The district has an annual meeting in October when we host officers from our state federation. In February the district has an arts and crafts festival and all members are invited to submit their work for competition. In the spring the district holds a workshop for new club officers and chairmen to familiarize them with the workings of the organization and the district.
The GFWC Clubwoman magazine is published bi-monthly by GFWC headquarters and provides a link to all clubwomen around the world. It is by subscription only (except to the Club Presidents).
The FFWC Clubwoman newspaper is published by FFWC and provides up-to-date information on all state federation activities. The cost is included in your club dues.
Our club sends a newsletter to all members which includes upcoming events, club meetings, fund-raising projects and news about our members.
Our Federation has something to offer to everyone and anyone interested in community service has something to offer the federation.
An individual like you CAN make a difference, to our club and to our community. If you are interested in becoming a member, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or would like more information.
I pledge my loyalty to Junior Club Women.
By doing better than ever before what work I have to do;
By being prompt, honest, courteous;
By living each day trying to accomplish something
Not merely to exist.
